Installation
- Connect Safety Circuit
to the Normally Closed contact (21-22). The Normally Open
contact is for indicators, etc. When the activating rope
is properly tensioned the Normally Closed contacts are
"closed". If the rope is cut or pulled, the Normally Closed
contact opens, turning "off" the machine control power.
- Mount the switch
using tamper-resistant fasteners (not supplied). Always
use washers under the switch mounting fasteners to prevent
the fasteners from pulling through the switch mounting
holes.
- Rope tensioning
- see Figure 1.
The rope is properly tensioned when the end of the indicator
covers about half of the green collar. Once the activating
rod is positioned, the "automatic reset" types will automatically
transfer the contacts into the "closed" position. To transfer
the contacts in the "manually reset" types, pull out the
"reset" knob.
- The contacts transfer
if the activating rope is either cut or pulled. To reset
the switch reset the rope tension as described in Item
3 above.
- Do not use the switch
as a mechanical stop.
- Verify proper operation
of the Safety Switch before placing the machine in service.
